The ICG Alhambra switch is
a new 15,000 square foot concrete tilt-up building that is a ground build
site for ICG Telecom. The facility will be used for switching equipment
along with co-location for outside vendors to set up remote interconnect
sites and office space to be used for regional sales personnel. The switching
room is provided with in room DatAir mechanical units with space for additional
units to acommodate growth. The structure is fully protected with a preaction
fire sprinkler system and the individual switch rooms are protected with
a FM-200 system. Emergency power is provided by a 450 kw generator with
a 600-gallon reserve tank. Due to the client's needs for this location,
the project was fast tracked through the city design review process and
city council approval. From the submittal of the preliminary design review
package to the issuance of building permits, the process time took only
90 days instead of the normally six month required review process. Chatco
Telecom contractors of Carlsbad, California built the switch at a cost
of $1,000,000.00
